Fish has among the lowest climate footprints of any animal protein. Our responsibility is to keep our impact on the lakes small and measurable.
Fish is one of the raw materials with the lowest environmental footprint among animal proteins, both in carbon emissions and water use. Farming is energy-efficient: the main work is feeding the fish.
The footprint fish farming leaves is nutrients in the water. We limit it through the composition of the feed, feed quantities and the number of fish, and we monitor it with feed analyses, calculation systems and regular water-chemistry and biological sampling. Together with SLU we have tested collecting sludge under the pens in the Miljökassen project.
“We care about how the fish are doing, about the water we use and about what we leave behind.”
